Job Type: Part-Time with the potential for Full-Time in the peak summer season
Wage: $20.00 per hour
Job Description: Sweet and Dandy Cotton Candy is looking for a confident and energetic Cotton Candy Spinner to join our team. You can’t be shy to be a carny!
As a cotton candy spinner, your primary role is, you guessed it, spinning cotton candy! Our company offers live spinning as well as pre-packed cotton candy, and during the summer months, live spinning is as much about the entertainment as it is the tasty treat.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You also should be able to manage a large crowd of people with varying personalities (kids, parents, people waiting in hot weather, etc.)
The shifts are mainly on weekends, with some multi-day events and festivals (such as VIEX, Laketown Shakedown, etc.) See the bottom of this job posting for all our summer events we need staff for.
There is also the potential to help with production at our home facility, aiding our main spinner and helping us package containers of cotton candy prior to events.
Responsibilities:

Set up and tear down of cotton candy machine and supplies

Transport cotton candy machines and supplies to and from events and locations using your own vehicle

Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner

Operate various types of cotton candy machines

Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment

Travel to and from event locations in your own vehicle

Work outdoors in hot environments for long periods of time

Follow directions of senior staff

Spin cotton candy for hours on end while children beg for sugar
Requirements:

Must have own vehicle and valid driver's license

Ability to stand and work in hot environments for long periods of time

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Ability to keep your cool in stressful situations (for example, the 15,000th child in a row asking for THE BIGGEST cotton candy ever)

Ability to manage a crowd and keep hungry and sweaty fair-goers calm

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Availability to work weekends and evenings

Valid Food Safe required – will pay for the right candidate if you don’t already have it

Criminal Record Check required – we get a lot of kids and vulnerable adults at our booth and we have to be sure that it’s a safe environment for all
